Drug Rehabilitation

Drug addiction is a serious problem that the medical community now views as a disease or illness, due to the effects on the abuser that are both mental and physical. According to the type of drugs in use, drug addiction symptoms will vary. Mainlining is evident with needle tracks, but opiates like heroin or cocaine cause confusion and a decreased sensitivity to pain and sedation. Insomnia, loss of appetite, rapid speech and euphoria are signs of amphetamine abuse. An individual who cannot quit on their own will find a long term program very helpful. In a Drug addiction treatment facility, each program is customized to meet the needs of the individual addict. The Drug rehabilitation program should include both group therapy and individual meetings with staff. Long term drug treatment is often required when the problem is critical, to help someone recover and remain drug free.

It is suggested that the foundation of any successful program is long term drug treatment. Some people are able to remain drug free through individual psychotherapy. A recovering addict learns to recognize the triggers that cause the drug abuse through counseling and group therapy. Suggestions are offered in order to make life changes so relapses are less frequent. It is helpful for family members to be included in therapy and counseling so everyone learns how to give support.

A complete set of facilities for treatment and recovery should be a vital part of the well-planned rehabilitation clinic. Accurate and attentive treatment should be provided by a staff of physicians, psychologists and therapists. Out patient programs provide medications that might be needed.
